Ira James Joseph Shorter was born January 23, 1974, to Ira and Magdalene Shorter. He spent his childhood in Pomona, California, where he was surrounded by a loving family and supportive friends.
On January 8, 1994, in Norco, California, he chose to be baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1996, he moved to Brooklyn, New York and began serving as a volunteer at the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses.
The next six and a half years at Brooklyn Bethel and then Wallkill, shaped him in profound ways and influenced the rest of his life. The people he met and worked with, the things he saw and learned, and the many experiences he enjoyed made him an even more extraordinary person. He held those memories dear.
