Youngstown - Robert Wayne Compton, 73, passed away March 6, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman, after an 11-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. His family would like to think he simply got tired of telling everyone else how to do things the right way.He was born May 13, 1951 in Youngstown, a son of the late Arnold and Martha (Drake) Compton. He worked as a self-employed painter and was a dedicated lifelong member of the Church of Christ.Beneath his rough edges, outspoken opinions, and stubborn ways, Robert had a soft heart. He took great pride in his garden, where he battled rabbits and groundhogs with the same determination he applied to all of life’s little struggles. Fishing was his escape, providing not only relaxation, but great catfish and walleye dinners. When the fish weren’t biting, Petrillo’s Pizza, followed by a bowl of Neapolitan ice cream with Squirt were a great option. “Ahh, the finer things in life.” Robert would say.
